SHINee Taemin

First, SHINee’s Taemin was discharged on the 4th after completing his social service duty.

On that day, Taemin said through a fan community, “It was a valuable time for me to look back on myself, and I felt that I was very grateful and happy for the time I spent. I missed you so much that even saying ‘I miss you’ is not enough. I will repay you with a lifelong grateful heart.”

Taemin enlisted in May 2021 to the military support battalion of the Ministry of National Defense. However, due to the worsening symptoms of depression and panic disorder, he was transferred to a supplementary reservist as of January 14th last year.

SHINee, with Taemin as the last member, will return as a complete group in May.

Day6 Young K

Day6’s Young K, who was the first idol to enlist in the Korea Army’s special forces, will be discharged on the 11th.

Before enlisting, Young K stated at a solo album press conference, “My father served in the special forces, and I’ve heard good stories since I was young. I took the test and was lucky enough to pass it because I also received recommendations from people around me.”

Even during his military service, Young K has been releasing 12 cover videos that were filmed before his enlistment, sequentially, on his YouTube channel for his fans.

Last August, he also released a music video for his new song ‘Beach Darling,’ a song he created when he released his mini-album ‘The Light Through Me’ in July of last year.

Young K will be followed by Dowoon, who will be discharged on the 16th of July from the Army Band of the Korean Army, and Wonpil, who is scheduled to be discharged from the Navy on November 27th. DAY6 is expected to reunite as a complete group at the end of this year.

MONSTA X’s Shownu

MONSTA X’s Shownu will be discharged as a full-time soldier on the 21st, becoming the first member of the group to complete his military service.

Shownu was deemed unfit for active duty due to surgery for left retinal detachment in July 2020 and was forced to fulfill his military duty as a social service worker.
